Many of our dishes, such as Danish Royal Lunch, are made and served in a traditional Danish way. Also called "Smoerrebroed", this is an open-faced sandwich dish, typically made with pumpernickel or sweet French Bread. This way of making sandwiches is often used at Danish Christmas parties and family gatherings, where you would start with the Herring first, then to the other seafoods & cold meats, and at the end the warm liverpaste, pork roast and fish fillets. A meal like this can easily take between 3-5 hours in a cold Danish December, but it's a lot of fun!
